Competitive Swim Team (ages 6-18)- Coached by Matt Williams, our goal as a swim team is to: teach the fundamental skills of competitive swimming; encourage lifetime involvement in healthy, physical activity; teach the values of discipline, goal-setting, self-improvement and sportsmanship; create lasting friendships; have loads of fun and; practice the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
Y Arts (ages 7 to adult)- This program, taught by artist Elizabeth Howe, is based on the systematic study of the tools and skills necessary for artistic expression. Classes will include drawing, painting and design.
Self Defense for Women (ages 17 & up)- This course offers college bound/college women, adults and mother daughter duos information and awareness of personal protection, rape prevention, and home security; including practice with physical techniques.
YMCA Dance Club (ages 12-16)- Youth learn jazz and hip hop dance styles and have an opportunity to perform for a live audience during a half time show!
Family Karate- Taught by Master Joyce Tredeau, strengthening of character and self-esteem are emphasized as much as physical techniques such as kicking, blocking, punching motions and self-defense.
Pre-football Training Camp (ages 14-18)- Youth will practice passing, kicking and running drills in preparation for football season. Mini games will be played.
Gymnastics- Youth age 6 and up will learn how to correctly use apparatus such as spring boards and balance beams, correct positioning and safety and the rules and stars of the sport.
Kayaking (ages 12-17)- Learn kayaking basics and safety.
